Johnny J. Sorenson is the founding and managing attorney of The Sorenson Law Firm, LLC. Mr. Sorenson has been practicing law since 1995. In 2005 Mr. Sorenson left his partnership with a national law firm 480 Lawyers to form The Sorenson Law Firm, LLC, with a commitment to providing excellent legal representation, obtaining outstanding results, and maintaining long term relationships with his clients. Mr. Sorenson is an experienced trial lawyer with a wide range of practice areas including personal injury, wrongful death, construction law, contract and business disputes, small business consulting, and insurance law. He is well known for his aggressive representation, no-nonsense approach, and practical solutions. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Sorenson also serves as a judge pro tempore in Maricopa County Superior Court, is a former Director for the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel, member of the Arizona Association of Justice, and member of the Arizona Asian American Bar Association. Johnny Sorenson has a preeminent AV rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review System, which is the highest attainable rating for both professional ability and ethics.

James Nolan has more than 17 years of litigation experience. He has a broad-based commercial and civil litigation practice, including construction contract and workmanship disputes, indemnification and subrogation, general liability defense (including first- and third-party insurance issues), and personal injury and wrongful death. He represents clients statewide at all levels, including the justice courts, superior courts, federal courts, ROC complaints and hearings, and private, binding arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Nolan was born in California, raised in Texas, and graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 1998. He is proud of his Hispanic heritage.

Kim Brings over 30 years of expertise in Personal Injury Law, holding licenses in both Arizona and the United States District Court. Kim excels in managing small law firms, negotiating complex cases, and litigating effectively. Beyond legal practice, Kim is proficient in client generation, digital marketing, document automation, and legal knowledge management. As a dedicated leader, Kim has fundraised over $100,000 for the Arizona Asian American Bar Association’s scholarship committee, earning an “Outstanding Performance Award” for these efforts. Additionally, Kim was honored with the “President's Award” from the State Bar of Arizona for an exceptional Continuing Legal Education seminar on client generation. Kim's commitment to the community includes serving as a Judge Pro Tem for the Maricopa County Superior Court and volunteering as an attorney with the City of Phoenix Veterans' Court.

Ruana is the lead Paralegal/Legal Assistant to managing partner Johnny Sorenson, and she supports the firm with all personal injury, insurance defense, and commercial litigation matters. Ruana has been in the legal field for over nine years. Prior to joining The Sorenson Law Firm, Ruana worked as a Bailiff and Judicial Assistant to the Honorable J. Richard Gama, who was assigned to a Civil Complex Calendar with the Maricopa County Superior Court. Ruana is originally from Brazil and she speaks fluent Portuguese. She also is proficient in Spanish, and she intends to learn Italian and French. Ruana likes to travel, spend time with her family, hiking, yoga, and try new restaurants.
Carolyn Emson

Carolyn Emson

Originally from Central Africa and grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. Graduated from Capilano College as a Certified Legal Assistant with a Certificate of Specialty in Tort Law. Ms. Emson has been a Certified Legal Assistant and Paralegal for more than 39 years both in Canada and in the United States. She is a Notary Public in and for the County of Maricopa and has experience in the areas of personal injury, insurance bad faith, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, business litigation, debt collection, Estates, minors’ conservatorship matters and product liability cases. Ms. Emson has worked for a variety of large and small firms through her career and was the lead assistant at a number of those firms. Ms. Emson has been with The Sorenson Law Firm since 2018.

Marie is a Paralegal/Legal Assistant, and she supports The Sorenson Law Firm with all personal injury, insurance defense, and commercial litigation matters. Mrs. Eswonia has been in the legal field for over five years. Marie is an Arizona native was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona. Mrs. Eswonia enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running outdoors, and trying new restaurants.
