Michael J. Plati is a partner with The Sorenson Law Firm and is in his 30th year of practice with a large breadth of practice areas, including insurance defense, professional defense, real estate litigation, and business/contract disputes.  The vast majority of his career was spent practicing as a partner at a large law firm predominantly defending institutions and businesses, but he has in addition spent several years prosecuting cases on the plaintiffs’ side at a plaintiffs’ firm.

Outside his practice, Mr. Plati has conducted settlement conferences as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Maricopa County Superior Court (2015 to 2021) and taught for 17 years as an Adjunct Instructor in the Phoenix Community College Legal Studies program (1997 to 2014).

Mr. Plati also enjoys serving the community.  He was a charter member of the Four Peaks Rotary Club from 1997 to 2018, serving as Club President during 2004-05.  He has further served as a youth basketball coach in various programs here in the Phoenix area.

Mr. Plati graduated from Arizona State University College of Law in 1995.  Before practicing law, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Morton Sitver in the United States District Court, District of Arizona (1995-96) and the Honorable James Sult in the Arizona Court of Appeals (1996-98).

A native of New Jersey, Mr. Plati played Division III football in Pennsylvania (Albright College) before migrating to Arizona for law school.  He is married to a native Brazilian (now an American) and enjoys spending time with his two teenage children and two Brittany Spaniels.
